For example, 1st shareholder holds 60 shares and 2nd shareholder holds 40 shares; then the total number of share is 60+40= 100. In this case, 1st shareholder holds 60% (60 out of 100) while the 2nd shareholder holds 40% (40 out of 100). If it's only one shareholder, then whatever is the number of share, he/she holds 100% of it.
